We know you love food as much as we do, so this year we searched high and low (whilst eating a lot) to find what we think is the best alternative festive feast this Christmas, and you'll be pleased to hear, it's a damn good burger. Our search landed us less than a five minute walk from our store on Ganton Street as we discovered the alternate yule tidings of Honest Burgers, Soho. Honest Burgers grilled onto the London scene with it's first restaurant opening in Brixton to both critics and locals delight around 3 years ago. Since then Honest Burgers have gone on to establish numerous plaudits from the likes of The Obeserver, Time Out, Evening Standard, Metro and a whole lot more. As the plaudits continued so did the growth of the company and they introduced more chains across London including restaurants in Camden, Portobello and Soho. We headed over to meet with Tom Barton (co founder of Honest Burgers, below) at lunchtime last week to find out a bit more about the company and to take their new Christmas Special Burger for a test-eat. We also brought along our resident creative designer Jake Grear to give the honored menu board a Lazy Oaf twist. Honest Burgers Christmas Special; The first thing we would like to say is outside of the festive theme the beef is some of the best we've ever tasted. There is genuine care and consideration on quality at Honest Burgers which really shows through. All the beef is supplied by The Ginger Pig, a 3,000 acre farm based in North Yorkshire supplying a range of meats to some of the highest quality butchers available in London. Away from the pretty badass beef, the Christmas Special burger is complimented by a Christmas staple; Cranberry Sauce and given a further festive makeover with some deep fried Camembert which releases all of it's cheesy goodness as soon as you break open the poppy seeded golden bread crumb. All of that sitting on top of a bed of Rocket salad with thick cuts of Bacon makes for the perfect alternate festive feast. Accompanied by some authentic in house homemade lemonade and you'll leave more than satisfied. Lazy Oaf Creative Designer Jake Grear hard at work. If all of that burger talk has left your appetite wanting more then there's good news, you can check out a full video feature on Honest Burgers below, including an interview with Tom Barton, the process of our custom Lazy Oaf menu illustration, and of course the make up of the mouthwatering Honest Burgers Christmas Special. If you're in Soho you can pop in to Honest Burgers in December to see the custom Lazy Oaf menu and try some of the beef that we be raving about, you'll find them tucked away at 4a Meard Street, W1F 0EF, London. We've teamed up with the guys over at Honest Burgers to offer you the chance to win your very own free festive feast, simply check out the graphic at the bottom of the page to find out how.
