Welcome to Do Good Art Club, our non-profit capsule collection platforming emerging artists we care about, and raising money for the causes they care about. Each artist's work is featured across a limited edition collection of hero styles, and 100% of the profits will be split equally between three charities; one of each artists’ choosing.
And here we are chatting with Volcia. Volcia is a Barcelona based digital artist who works predominantly in 3D, creating shiny and surreal visuals that blend playfulness with the obscure. She has chosen to support the charity Open Arms, a non-profit organisation working to protect those abandoned in international waters having fled wars, persecution and poverty. So now let’s catch up with Volcia, so she can tell us about her life, art, and artistic inspirations.

Hello Volcia! How are you?
Hey! A little sleepy, and you?
How would you describe yourself, what you do, and the art you make?
I would go with, digital artist. It’s so generic…it’s perfect - a lot of things can fit into that description.
What themes does your artwork explore?
I think it would be better to say that my art is me exploring life through my creative practices; it’s an important part of my day. I often have the urge to translate my emotions into images - it’s a form of communication.
We’re so excited about your collection for Do Good Art Club. Is this the first time you’ll see your work on a piece of clothing?
I’m excited too! Yes and no; I have done some collaborations before, but this is the first time I’ll see my 3D work as an all over print, and it feels great! I love the result < 3 and I’m also super excited to see what other artists did.
What inspired the artworks that are featured on the pieces?
Nature, animals and pop culture. After hours spent in front of the screen, I’m getting more & more into spending time outdoors. I lived close to the forest for the last month and had a lot of stray cats and wild pigs paying visits, and they always made my day.
Where will you be wearing them to?
Pretty much everywhere, I think the set is perfect for a lot of different occasions.
Will you tell us a bit more about the charity you’ve chosen? Why are they so close to your heart?
The realities of current global and political events weigh heavy on my heart, particularly the recent drastic increase in the number of refugees. So I chose to support and raise money for Open Arms, a charity raising money for people in need, fleeing war zones and poverty; people in danger and people being displaced. Open Arms are doing really important work, and I have a lot of respect for them.
What is the creation process like for you? Do you find it healing / energising / calming / stressful?
The creation process is all you mention and more. There are always multiple stages, and when I’m trying to get an idea out of my mind it can be pretty stressful. But when it is “out” it feels satisfying to get closer to something that was at first only imagined.
Who are your artistic heroes, and what inspiration do you draw from them?
It is difficult to pick just one, also I have people who inspire me, rather than heroes. But there’s so much great stuff out there, and I keep discovering more and more. Recently I was really haunted by the images of Agness Pelton, and not that long ago I visited a Maison Bernard made by Antti Lovag, and it blew my mind.
