What's your name, where do you come from and what do you do?
My name is Christina and I'm the Buying Director at Nasty Gal.
Talk us through your average day at the Nasty Gal HQ?
I run around from meeting to meeting, usually while starving. Sometimes I'm in our photo studio talking about different looks with our styling team, checking out samples with the Buying team or reviewing sketches with the Design team. I answer lots of emails, take a million screen shots and day dream about cute clothes and shoes that I want.
How did you land your job?I applied and was hired! Sophia and I hit it off instantly and her vision for Nasty Gal really resonated with me.
Nasty Gal is renowned for having a great eye for style, what qualities do you look when picking brands to stock?
We are always thinking about the customer, so we want to make sure the brands we like are going to connect with them. They obviously should fit into the Nasty Gal lifestyle and not take themselves too seriously. When buying brands we either try to find key pieces that she can easily pair into her existing wardrobe or show stopper styles that she can't live without.
What does it mean to be a Nasty Gal?It means you are a cool girl! Nasty Gals are feminine and confident, have a great sense of style and dress for themselves.
What makes working at Nasty Gal different to anywhere else?
We are building something new, which means we are constantly learning. The office is filled with really cool people who work hard and really care about the company. It's a lot of fun!
What did you have for lunch today?
A super snooze worthy meal of salad with cabbage, chicken, almonds, sesame seeds and miso dressing.
What music have you got playing on iTunes?
I prefer Spotify! I'm usually listening to a crazy mix of stuff. Lately I've been into the new My Bloody Valentine, Foxygen, Tops, Palma Violets and Youth Lagoon albums, all really solid. LCD Soundsystem, Spiritualized, old Electrelane or Wilco albums are always in heavy rotation. If I'm feeling nostalgic it's Rilo Kiley or Belle and Sebastian. I like to get 2002 sometimes.
What does your desk look like?It looks insane!!
